Living the Dash
Message 1 of One Month to Live
John 10:10

• Zechariah 11:17
"Woe to my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock!
May the sword strike his arm
and his right eye!
Let his arm be wholly withered,
 his right eye utterly blinded!"

I. Jesus Lived Passionately

•1 John 5:11-12
11And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

"To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,
"'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.'

II. Jesus Loved Completely

• John 13:1
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

37And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Love never ends.

III. Jesus Learned Humbly


• Philippians 2:5-8
5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

There are only two things that build your character:

(1) Digging into God’s Word.

(2) Problems.

IV. Jesus Left Boldly

• Luke 9:51
When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'


1. Ask the question every day, “What would I do if I only had one month to live?”
2. Read a chapter in the book, One Month to Live, every day.
3. Get plugged into a SMBS class to experience this life-changing lifestyle with others.
